How can I obtain a non-immigrant visa in Thailand?
Non-Immigrant Business Visas
Foreigners are required to obtain a non-immigrant business visa to conduct business or work in Thailand. The application for a non-immigrant business visa is usually done at a Thai embassy abroad before the entry of the foreigner in Thailand. The visa is usually granted for a 3-month period during which the foreigner would apply for a work permit and then extend his visa for a one-year period. Most foreigners already in Thailand with a valid visa (or within COVID-19 amnesty visa extension) can apply for a non-immigrant visa from Thailand without having to leave the country.

Foreigners are required to apply for a work permit before they start working in Thailand. Thai laws have an extensive definition of the term “work” as “exerting energy or using knowledge whether or not in consideration of wages or other benefits.” Obtaining a non-immigrant visa is a prerequisite to apply for a work permit. Work permit holders are eligible to come to Thailand during the COVID-19 outbreak.
